Preparation for the 8th-grade exam and the Matura
The 8th-grade exam and the Matura on real past papers, without stress
Language exams have a lot in common with the name of our school – Languart combines language and art. And sitting an exam is exactly that, an art:
- the art of doing the tasks according to the guidelines
- the art of writing a longer piece
- the art of using the right grammar structures consciously
We like to break exams down into their parts, give you concrete tips and show you what examiners really pay attention to – because it's often something completely different from what you think.
Who is it for?
For all students preparing for the 8th-grade exam (egzamin ósmoklasisty) or the Matura – at both basic and extended level. For those aiming very high, and for those who simply want to pass calmly and without surprises. We add self-confidence and a positive boost – you can do it!
Real past papers
The basis of our preparation is original exam papers from previous years. Through them, students get to know the full format and structure of the exam, the specific types of tasks, how the instructions are put together and what to look out for. Working through paper after paper, you can notice which grammar structures come up regularly – and even predict what will most likely appear in the next exam, because "we haven't had that for a while".
Doing past papers isn't everything, though. And this is where our own materials come in.
Our own materials
We create our own materials covering all the most important grammar topics that come up in the exams. We complement them straight away with exercises of the same type as those in the original papers – so that from the start the student can see in what context they might need a given structure. For example, in Matura transformations with the word HAVE, the answer might be have something done, but it might just as well be have to or a modal verb in the past. We show how to connect the dots.
In our materials you'll also find the most common exam vocabulary – including so-called key words that can point you to the right answer even when you don't understand the whole text.
We also pay a lot of attention to the written part – we give concrete tips, ready-made sentence suggestions and plenty of inspiration for the question we hear most often: "where do I get ideas from when I don't have any in my head?". We also show how to find inspiration in... the exam paper itself.
Listening, reading, grammar, writing – which matters most?
All four components are equally important. Sometimes we hear: "I only want to practise grammar, because listening and reading are easy." Yet listening and reading carry a huge number of points – which is why we give them just as much weight.
In the first classes we always check the level of each component and build a preparation plan together – matched to the current stage and the time left until the exam. If we see that, for example, listening is progressing more slowly, we prioritise it and include at least one task from that section in every class. Our cooperation also matters – doing the homework set.
Results
All our students say they scored more points in their exams than they expected. 8th-grade exam – results of 85–100%, basic Matura – 80–100%, extended Matura – 70–100%.
More importantly, they all agree on one thing: thanks to our classes the exam was understandable, predictable and far less stressful. They knew exactly what to do, had enough time for all the components and – what makes us happiest – they didn't feel stressed!
